Introduction Of Incense |
The word Incense is derived from the original Latin word Incendere, which means to burn. There are many differences of opinion as to when and where the incense originated. There are many legends about this available on the internet. Even if this is true, India is still the world's leading incense producer today. And burning incense has been a fundamental part of Hinduism for thousands of years.
There is a beautiful legend about how incense was made. One queen lost her kingdom in an unexpected enemy attacked on her kingdom. She felt very bad and started crying a lot. With sorrows and tearful eyes, she prayed to the God about the loss of land and the countless martyrs soldiers. From her tears Sweet Gum Trees were formed.
Incense is defined as a fragrant biological material when burned, creates a fragrant and beautiful atmosphere, Which can be used for different purposes in different places. But if you think about it, one thing you will notice that many of the ingredients used in incense do not smell unless burned. That is why as mentioned in the previous article, ash is a symbol of own sacrifice.
Archaeologists have found evidence of incense in many forms and in almost every culture. Incense is said to have been widely used in ancient cultures such as Mesopotamia, Phenicia, Arabia, Egypt, India, Greece, and Rome. From this we came to know how long the use of incense has been going on. In the next few articles, we will discuss the reasons for using incense and its positive and negative effects on human life and mind.
